ABOUT OZONE

High in the Earth's atmosphere, the Ozone layer is created through the action of ultraviolet radiation from the Sun on the Oxygen atoms. At ground level the unmistakeable fresh smell in the air following a thunderstorm is Ozone created by the effect of the lightning discharge on the Oxygen atoms.

Ozone (03) also known as 'activated Oxygen' is simply Oxygen (02) with an extra molecule. It's this extra molecule that makes Ozone extremely reactive, allowing it to attach itself to organic odours (volatile organic compounds) and microbes, such as bacteria, moulds and spores in the air or water. When contact is made, a chemical reaction called 'oxidation' (destruction) takes place, rendering the contaminant permanently destroyed.

It is completely safe to use Ozone in an unoccupied, sealed area, as long as the operator waits until the ozone turns back to Oxygen prior to re-occupation.

Ozone will naturally revert back to Oxygen once the sanitisation process is completed. Therefore while high levels of Ozone are toxic, within a short time all of the Ozone will have literally disappeared.
