SPOT AND STAIN REMOVAL
Our policy for stain removal is as follows:-
Normal spotting and stain removal is included in our steam cleaning process.
If at the completion of cleaning there are stains that have not been removed, extra
treatments such as 'Heat Transfer' or, 'Spot Dyeing' will be discussed with you,
and a quote given for the removal of these more difficult stains.
You will be advised whether the stain will respond to an 'extra' treatment and the
likelihood of the stain being able to be removed, partially removed or lightened
or if the stain is deemed permanent.
Stains that require the 'heat transfer method' can take up to 30 minutes per stain.
Please note that some stains that are deemed permanent will not remove with any
treatments. We do not guarantee removal of permanent stains.
Extra treatments as mentioned above are often not required as 85% of spots and stains
are removed in the initial cleaning process.
GENERAL TIPS
The chances of removal of a stain are 85% better if you take action immediately!
- Blot up all liquid spills with a plain cotton or absorbent kitchen towels.
- Scrape up all solids with a spoon, or blunt knife.
- Do not use inappropriate detergents on carpets or upholstery (washing up liquid,
wash powders, household bleach, or disinfectants.)
- Test any chemical you intend to use in an inconspicuous area to make sure it will
not discolour, or damage the surface.
- Use chemicals at the recommended dilution ratio
- Blot from the outside of the stain inwards to avoid spreading - do not scrub.
- Rinse the chemical with cool water - do not over wet into the carpet backing.
- Encourage quick drying with a hair dryer - set on cool.
- Brush, or fluff up to help realign the pile of the carpet.
- Place 5-6 layers of absorbent kitchen paper over the spot, weighing it down with
something akin to the Yellow Pages, and leave to 'wick up' any remaining moisture
for at least 24 hours.
- Be prepared to repeat the process if necessary.
